More about me outside of engineering and the Society of Women Engineers
My name is Natalie M. Hahn. The M stands for Marie, which was given to me after both my grandmother and great grandmother.
Although I'm busy with engineering and the Society of Women Engineers, there are some other things that I love to do.
A passion of mine is outreach. When I was little, I didn't have visibility into STEM disciplines. It is my goal to help change this for young students, particularly women. Once I finish my bachelor's degree, I hope to pursue a doctorate in STEM education and outreach.
My family helped instill a love for reading in me since I was a young girl. Whenever I have free time, I grab the nearest book and start reading. Some of my favorite works are The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and all Jane Austen novels.
The biggest support system in my life is my family. No matter what crazy endeavor I want to try next or speech I need to practice, they have always stood by my side.
One event that tested the strength of my family is my younger brother. When he was born, we learned that he had disabilities and would need multiple surgeries, special equipment, and a myriad of various therapies. However, he and my family are all strong and we have worked through all the hard times!
After watching my brother grow, it has become a goal of mine to begin ensuring that children with disabilities are exposed to STEM at events in which I have a hand in planning.
